Just two months ago, the words Glass-Steagall meant next to nothing to the majority of Europeans. The co-signers to H.R. 1489 were a handful of leading Democrats and Republicans with various trade unions and local government bodies throughout the nation offering their endorsements to the bill.
Former French Socialist Prime Minister Michel Rocard, has just published a full page article in Le Monde called “A banking system to be rethought,” in which he tells the truth about the extent of the crisis, and supports Glass-Steagall for Europe as the most viable solution to that crisis. This is a highly significant development that shows the influence of LaRouche and Presidential candidate Jaques Cheminade in French politics. Read Rocard's comments comments after the jump.

I thought it would be prudent at this point to repost the list of the Glass-Steagall supporters with all of the latest institutional support. In the past week the Washington State Democratic Central Committee passed a broad endorsement of the many bills in the congress and senate now that would restore GS, and the Central Ohio Labor Council endorsed HR1489. This fight is by no means slowing down. If you haven't yet, call and/or e-mail your congressmen and tell them their ass is grass if they don't restore Glass-Steagall.
